Luma Heights apartments were officially red-tagged by Sioux City inspectors, deeming them unfit for occupancy due to numerous code violations.

According to a statement from the city, the property was red-tagged for multiple issues, including outdated fire systems, heating, and numerous other housing violations.

Anne Westra, Communications and Public Engagement Specialist of the City of Sioux City, told Siouxland Public Media on Friday that the building has been inspected 50 times over the last three years.

The city has contacted the property manager of Luma Heights apartments multiple times and issued warnings.

There are currently 12 occupied units in the building. Residents have been given until Friday to move out.

Residents of Luma Heights are encouraged to visit Sioux City Neighborhood Services to explore available resources.
