There is about to be an 8th candidate running for Iowa’s 4th Congressional District.
Christian Schlaefer, a Republican from Bancroft, will officially announce his candidacy at the Clay County Fair this Saturday.
Schlaefer is a farmer, businessman, and community leader.
His platform is unknown, and there is no information available on his website.
Other candidates are Republicans Matt Windschitl, Chris McGowan, Ryan Rhodes, and Kyle Larsen, along with Democrats Ashley WolfTornabane, Stephanie Steiner and Dave Dawson.
Current 4th District Congressman Randy Feenstra is running for governor.
