The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation is getting closer to reaching their goal of $1.9 million to purchase 73 acres of land in Arnolds Park.
As of Tuesday, Joe JayJack, External Affairs Director of INHF, told Siouxland Public Media that INHF has about $700,000 left to raise.
If the goal is met, the organization plans to place a conservation easement on the property to ensure its permanent protection as natural space, after which ownership transfers to the City of Arnolds Park
The city in collaboration with the Dickson County Conservation Board will do native restoration work and develop amenities including hiking trails.
INHF has until October 31st to secure the remaining funds.
