A cyberattack on a healthcare company is causing delays in prescriptions nationwide - including Iowa.
Change Healthcare, which is owned by UnitedHeath Group, has seen delays in its system since experiencing a cyberattack more than a week ago.

The company handles things like payments and requests to insurance companies to authorize care. The attack has caused many pharmacies to experience delays in filling prescriptions.
This includes UnityPoint Health, which operates clinics and hospitals across the state.

A spokesperson for the organization said in a statement the cyberattack has affected its pharmacies’ ability to submit prescription claims to insurance companies.

As spring beckons, Iowa state climatologist Justin Glisan says it really wasn’t much of a winter and it was a dry winter. Glisan says it was the “second warmest February in 152 years of records.

Glisan says forecast models predict March will be warmer than normal, with good chances for increased precipitation.

Some of Iowa’s trees may have a hard year ahead as the state enjoyed a mostly mild winter. Conifers especially are suffering from unseasonably warm temperatures.

D-N-R Forest Health Leader Tivon Feeley says that drought and still-frozen ground are also big concerns for the species.

We are very, very dry still. And when you have that wind and the ground that still a little bit frozen so roots can’t take up water, we see something called ‘winter desiccation.’

Feeley adds that symptoms in many conifers may not appear until near-summer, and by that time the tree is often too dehydrated to recover.

The Arena Sports Academy and the United Sports Academy have announced their official merger. The new non-profit will operate under the name the Siouxland Sports Academy and will call The Arena and United (CNOS Fieldhouse) sports complexes home.

Addressing a childcare shortage is a top goal set by the Storm Lake City Council for 2024. The City of Storm Lake was able to secure a grant that has allowed for a comprehensive market analysis of the childcare situation in Storm Lake to be completed.

That study will be a key tool in developing additional childcare in the form of a child care center or more in-home care options. A Storm Lake Childcare Committee has been formed to help guide that effort.
