This week on The Exchange we take a look at the effects of our recent winter storms. More than three feet of snow fell in Siouxland , but will that moisture help alleviate drought conditions?
State climatologist Justin Glisan says . . . perhaps. He says several factors play into drought reduction.

The high winds of recent storms had no serious effects on wind turbines. In fact, the high wind speeds helped turbines produce a record amount of energy for MidAmerican Energy. Also, there were no issues caused by the frigid winds and ice. MidAmerican spokesman Geoff Greenwood explains why.
Also, how low-income residents of Woodbury County can get help paying energy bills and weatherizing their homes. We talk with Katie Logan of the Community Action Agency of Siouxland about the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program or LIHEAP.

The Junior League of Sioux City is helping teenage girls who can’t afford the period products they need with a program called the Period Pantry Project. The league is working with local schools to provide period products.
The league is also planning a Prom Dress Pop-Up event for teens to be able to choose from a wide variety of affordable prom dresses. We talk with the league's Kayla Kellen.
