Marlon White Eyes’ sister speaks out on his murder

According to the Bureau of Indian Affairs, there are approximately 4,200 unsolved cases for missing and murdered Native Americans and Alaska Natives. In April of this year, a rare case of a murdered Native American, Marlon White Eyes, was recently brought to trial in Sioux City.

One of our guests is Tamara Blackbird, sister of White Eyes. She is joined by Trisha Rivers of Red Sky Nation, an organization that gave support to Blackbird and her family through the trial.

Blackbird talks with us about her brother’s murder and how it impacted her and her family.

Rivers describes how indigenous folks have been enduring violent crimes since colonization, and she discusses what needs to be done for the indigenous community to move forward.
