Two Iowa universities are working together to shave a year off the time it usually takes to earn a law degree. Siouxland Public Media’s Mary Hartnett has more.

It normally takes four years to earn a bachelor's degree and three to get a law degree. The University of Northern Iowa and Drake University Law School signed an agreement Thursday to allow students to graduate with a law degree one-year sooner. The Iowa City Press Citizen reports that the 3+3 Program will allow UNI students earn a bachelor's degree in three years, then earn a law degree from Drake in the next three years. A UNI student can apply to Drake Law School in the year before their projected graduation. UNI signed a similar agreement with the University of Iowa College of Law in 2014.
