Moringside College and Western Iowa Tech Community College Team Up for Pathways Program

Western Iowa Tech Community College announced a partnership with Morningside College yesterday that will help students to move from community college to a four-year degree program.

Siouxland Public Media’s Mary Hartnett has this report.

Morningside College’s Pathways program will help WIT students transfer to Morningside to complete their bachelor’s degree.  Morningside Provost William Deeds says education, business and accounting, and social behavioral sciences are the areas of study offered by the program.

“We think there is mutual interest inthose programs among WIT students and Msid students to make this a viable start to this program.”

Western Iowa Tech Community College

Western Iowa Tech President Terry Murrell says the pathways program will help students stay in the Siouxland area.  And it will also be helpful for local employers.

“ Employers need part time work while they’re hear and we just believe that its going to raise the overall level of the available workforce in the Siouxland region.”

WIT students admitted to the Pathways Program will also receive a financial plan and a financial aid award from Morningside College.
