New Round of COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics Scheduled for Next Week


The next Woodbury County public COVID-19 vaccination clinics will take place Tuesday, April 6th, and Thursday, April 8th at the Siouxland Expo Center in Sioux City. Appointments will be open to all residents age 16 and older who need their first dose of vaccine. Clinics will be using the Pfizer vaccine, which is approved for use in individuals age 16 and older. You can register online at the Siouxland District Health Department website at siouxlanddistricthealth.org  beginning at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow. 

There were 16 new cases of COVID-19 reported this morning by the Iowa Department of Public Health.  No COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Siouxland counties over the weekend.  Woodbury County has a 14-day positivity rate of 6.7%.
Officials have recovered the body of an Iowa State University student who had been missing after a school crew club boat capsized during practice on a lake. The accident also killed another student crew member.
 Students were practicing yesterday morning at Little Wall Lake in Hamilton County when the scull capsized. Three were rescued, and a dive team recovered the body of one student later in the day. The names of the students have not been released. 
The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls is warning that strong winds will contribute to dangerous fire conditions Monday afternoon and evening in much of Northwest Iowa, Northeast Nebraska, and Southeast South Dakota.
Both a wind advisory and a red flag warning will be in effect from noon to 9 p.m. today. A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are occurring. In Iowa, Woodbury, and Plymouth, Dakota and Dixon counties in Nebraska, and Union County in South Dakota are all in the warning area.
