4th District Congressman King Once Again Addresses Civilization, Causes Controversy

081419 404

4thdistrict Congressman Steve King caused another media firestorm today with his comments on race, rape, incest, and abortion. In Urbandale today, The nine-term Congressman was discussing his stance against abortion restriction laws that carve out exceptions for rape and incest when he went on to question whether such exceptions could have if honored in past civilizations, caused the end of humanity.

King said he will continue to push for a wall to stop migration at the southern border, in part because he says the number of migrants crossing into the U.S. could favor Democrats when district lines are redrawn following the Census.

That’s one of the reasons why I’ve introduced so many pieces of legislation to end birthright citizenship, amend the Constitution so we’re counting citizens instead of people.

King lost support from many party leaders after being quoted by the New York Times asking when terms like a white nationalist and western civilization became offensive. King says that was a misquote, and that Democrats are using terms like white nationalist to target conservative Republicans.

Sioux City’s JD Scholten, the Democrat who nearly upset King in 2018 and recently announced he is running again in 2020, also issued a statement, accusing King of having “selfish, hateful ideology” and “excusing violence.”
