Also, we hear from an Iowa State University alumni who has co-authored a book about what we might call today the alternative version of the Future Farmers of America. The New Farmers of America was created young black men who were not allowed into the FFA in the South during segregation.
And we hear about efforts to reach out to growing number of immigrants to the Siouxland community for whom English is a second language. There is a new translator program at western Iowa Tech Community College. It begins in August.
