Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen on Thursday vetoed bills dealing with emergency services, university contracts, maternity leave, Medicaid and affordable housing.

The South Dakota legislature passed a bill that would cover the costs for part of the free and reduced lunch program in its session Monday. Both the House and Senate approved the bill.

Iowa State Senator Catelin Drey announced during Monday’s legislative session she has been diagnosed with uterine cancer.
