Sales for local businesses drop due to cold temperatures

As temperatures drop in Siouxland, so have sales for some local businesses.

Emily Vollmar, owner of Rooted Boutique in downtown Sioux City, told Siouxland Public Media News that, “ sales have dropped 24% from this same time last year. This number would be so much worse without our online business which has recently seen an uptick”.

However not all small businesses have the support of online sales to make up for lost revenue.

At Jefferson Beer Supply in Jefferson, South Dakota, owner Nikki Werner says that local customers have turned out to support their business. However they have not seen as many customers from Elk Point and Sioux City.

Werner said, “these slow times make it even more urgent for customers to support the small, local guys”.
