And this week, we remember the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police two years ago, as we talk with one of the co-authors of a new book about Floyd’s life, Washington Post reporter Robert Samuels.
In His Name is George Floyd: One Man's Struggle for Racial Justice, Samuels and his Washington Post colleague Toluse Olorunnipa spent years researching Floyd's early life and family origins. Samuels says the family of George Floyd has been affected by systemic racism for generations.
