Today on The Exchange we hear stories of the Midwest and speak with a visiting artist at ArtSplash over the weekend.
Amanda Browder began a project for next year’s festival - an art piece that will cover the Art Center in fabric. Community members came to her table of fabric and sewing machines, and Browder invited them to sew. Browder says everyone is welcome to take part in the project, and sewing experience appreciated but not required. She spoke with Siouxland Public Media's Mark Munger.

We reflect on the life of Nebraska Pulitzer Prize winning author Willa Cather. A statue of Cather was dedicated in Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capital building this summer on her 150th birthday. The sculptor was Creighton University Professor Littleton Alston, who is the first black American to create a sculpture for Statuary Hall. We talk with Ashley Olson, the Executive Director of The Willa Cather Foundation in Cather’s former home in Red Cloud, Nebraska.
