The next substantial step in the process of selecting the president of Western Iowa Tech Community College is planned for Friday.
The presidential search timeline says the event will be the second search committee meeting. That is where the committee members plan to discuss and select confidential semifinalist candidates.
Candidates had to submit applications by March 2.
Finalists could come to campus by early April for public forums.The college board aims to pick the next president by late April, for the post that begins July 1.
Officials are working to find the successor for President Terry Murrell, who is retiring later this school year, after 14 years as president.
The college Board of Directors are using the Association of Community College Trustees firm to assist with the Presidential search process.
Back on January 27-28, college employees brainstormed some key attributes and qualifications the next president should have. Some people noted the president should have expertise in working with a student body that is diverse and in fundraising, plus working with legislators.
