The Iowa Utilities Commission heard input on Monday concerning proposed schedules for deciding whether to grant permits to build two carbon pipelines.
SCS Carbon Transport, an affiliate of Summit Carbon Solutions, requested the permits to build pipelines that would connect ethanol plants in Ida and Floyd counties to Summit's proposed Phase One pipeline project.
The first phase has not yet been built and has pending court appeals.
The Iowa Utilities Commission proposed hearings for the two new pipelines in February and March 2027.
Landowner Terry Beek [pronounced like beak] said the process seems to be rushed.
“This does not seem to accommodate the people that are going to be impacted. This schedule seems to accommodate the people that are trying to get the pipeline in,” Beek said.
