Briar Cliff University officials have extended the contract of President Matthew Draud.
A press release announced that action by the BCU Board of Trustees. Draud has been president since July 2024, and his three-year contract has been renewed.
“Briar Cliff has tremendous potential, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving this University and its students,” Draud said.
Steve Stouffer, Chairman of the Briar Cliff University Board of Trustees, said Draud has served well, via demonstrating strong leadership and providing a clear vision for the college in Sioux City.
“The Board has great confidence in his ability to lead the University forward, and this agreement reflects our commitment to the direction Briar Cliff is headed under the direction of his effective guidance,” Stouffer said.
During Draud’s tenure, Briar Cliff launched the Foundations for the Future capital campaign and surpassed its initial $10 million and subsequent $12 million goals. The campaign is now working toward an expanded $15 million goal.
The release said Briar Cliff has also expanded its academic and athletic offerings, adding dual-credit and on-demand courses. The BCU team is working on preparations for Briar Cliff’s centennial in 2030.
