The South Dakota Arts Council announced on Thursday it will provide about $21.6 million in grants for fiscal year 2027.
The grants support art projects, operations, statewide initiatives, and local artists.
Patrick Baker, Director of SDAC, said the arts strengthen communities, and the council is eager to support projects, performances, and potential art brings to the public.
Many communities, organizations, and artists throughout the state received grants, including Vermillion, Sioux Falls, and Pine Ridge.
SDAC awarded Vermillion a combined total of $86,670, some of which will support the South Dakota Shakespeare Festival, the Vermillion Cultural Association, and the National Music Museum.
As for Sioux Falls, it will receive a combined over $323,000 to support various projects such as SculptureWalk Sioux Falls, Solace’s Healing Arts program, and the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra.
Furthermore, Red Cloud Indian School Inc. on the Pine Ridge reservation was awarded about $25,700 to support its arts education programs, workshops, and youth engagement programs.
Other communities awarded funds include Yankton, Deadwood, and Rapid City.
