There could be an upcoming change in ownership of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City could be going up for sale alongside eight other gaming properties.

Churchill Downs Inc. on Wednesday, July 29,filed a notice with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission on the potential sale of Hard Rock Sioux City, and eight other casino facilities.

Missouri River Historic Development Inc. is the non-profit entity that holds the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s gaming license.

MRHD President Dave Bernstein told KCAU News the sale would simply be a change of ownership, and he anticipates little would change in the operation of the casino in downtown Sioux City.

Hard Rock opened in the city in 2014, with a large hotel and casino with multiple gambling options. The venue hosts a lot of music and comedian shows indoors, plus an outdoor summer concert series in the adjacent Battery Park. The next concert is on Friday, with Warren Zeiders.

A sale Sioux City casino would need to get approval from the Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission.
