The City of Sioux City announced on Monday the two finalists for the Chief of Police position.
The candidates are Scott Ebner and Robert Trebes. One will be selected to replace Chief of Police Rex Mueller. Mueller announced his retirement in early April and has served the Sioux City Police Department since 1996.
Scott Ebner is from Georgia and has more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement. Ebner has served in multiple leadership roles, including director of public safety and chief of police.
Throughout his years of service, Ebner has overseen first responders and crime laboratories and directed bureaus responsible for investigations.
Additionally, Robert Trebes is from Arizona and has more than 20 years of experience in law enforcement.
Trebes has served in multiple leadership roles, including chief of police and deputy sheriff. During his years of service, Trebes has directed police operations, consulted on internal investigations, and re-established a community-focused policing unit.
Both Ebner and Trebes have implemented policy updates and worked to improve community engagement initiatives.
A public meet and greet will be held on August 5th from 7-8:30 pm for residents to speak with the candidates. The meet and greet will be at the Sioux City Convention Center.
