Dora Jung has been selected to become the next director of the Sioux City Diocese Catholic Schools system.

That information came from a release by Bishop John E. Keehner on the hiring of two new school leaders.

James Murray, current superintendent of both Humboldt and Twin Rivers school districts in Iowa, will begin serving as an interim superintendent for the diocesan schools office as of July 1.

Jung, who is director of student services and Title IX coordinator for the Sioux City School District, will serve as director of Catholic schools, also as of July 1.

Jung is succeeding Patty Lansink, who left in February to take a consulting position.

When the 2026-27 school year begins, there will be 14 Catholic school systems with an enrollment of about 6200 students

Bishop Keehner said,”“Both individuals bring a wealth of academic leadership experience to the office and are committed to the success of our Catholic school students, staff and administration. We look forward to working with both of them.”

Murray will serve in the interim role until Jung can complete the certification required to serve as superintendent for the diocesan schools.

Murray is retiring from the public school posts, and advised the bishop that he was interested in assisting the Catholic Schools Office as superintendent on a temporary basis.

Jung has served the Sioux City Community School District since 2018.

*Additionally, there is a new judge serving in Northeast Nebraska.

Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has appointed Danielle Fliam (as County Court Judge in the Seventh Judicial District.

Fliam will begin that role on May 15. The district includes seven counties, including Wayne, Cuming, Madison and Pierce.
