The Western Iowa Tech Community College Board of Directors announced Dr. Terry Lindsay as the new president of the institution on Monday.
According to a memo, the board went into a closed meeting to appoint and offer the position to one of the two finalists, which included Lindsay and Dr. Terry Gaalswyk.
Dr. Michelle Allmendinger was also a candidate for the position. However, since her forum, Allmendiger was hired at another college.
Lindsay has 32 years of experience in higher education and has been the Vice President of Student Affairs at Albany State University in Albany, Georgia, for nearly six years.
Additionally, he has 13 years of experience in executive leadership roles, including an administrative position at Iowa Wesleyan University.
Lindsay’s career encompasses private and public institutions as well as two-and four-year colleges. He has multiple advanced degrees, including a doctorate in educational leadership with a focus in higher education.
During his forum he said it’s necessary to have supportive student services and to make sure that students of all demographics see themselves represented on campus.
Lindsay also mentioned that it is imperative that WITCC employees make a welcoming community for all who walk on campus.
He is expected to assume the position on July 6, 2026.
WITCC’s current president Terry Murrell announced his retirement earlier this school year and has been in the role for 14 years. Murrell will leave the college this summer.
