The Sioux City Council appointed Mike Collett as the new city manager during its meeting Monday.
After city manager Bob Padmore retired in April 2025, Collett assumed the position of interim city manager.
He has been serving the city since 2007 in multiple capacities, including assistant city manager and director of administrative services.
The appointment passed on a 5 to 0 vote.
Additionally, Police Chief Rex Mueller announced his intentions to retire by the end of the year, as first reported by KSCJ.
Mueller has been with the Sioux City Police Department since 1996 and served as police chief since 2017.
