The Sioux City Council will discuss approving plans and cost for the water main replacement project in its meeting Monday.

According to a memo, the project will replace the current water main and street pavement from Glendale Boulevard to Martha Street.

If the council does not approve the project, the other option will be to replace the water main and pavement from Melrose Avenue to Glendale Boulevard.

If the project is approved, a public hearing will be set for April 13, and bids will be received on April 14.

The estimated cost for the project is $1.7 million and is expected to start between June 1 and June 8.

Funding will come from the annual undersized water main replacement program. The project currently has about $583,000.
