Trial set for Sioux City manhole cover artist

Ways To Subscribe

A trial date was set for a Sioux City resident who spray-painted flowers on manhole covers during a pretrial conference on Thursday.

Brandon Bradshaw was arrested in November for criminal mischief and drinking in public. At the time of his arrest, he was carrying a bag with eight cans of spray paint and other painting supplies.

After Bradshaw’s arrest, he received support from community members, with people sharing an online petition to have his charges dropped.

In January, Bradshaw attempted to have his charges dismissed, but the request was denied. The judge noted the county attorney’s office did not sign off on an agreement to dismiss his charges, which was signed by the mayor of Sioux City and the president of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce.

He has a pretrial conference scheduled for April 30th with his trial date set for May 6th at the Woodbury County District Court.
