The Orange City Area Health System is currently remodeling its surgical center to include more space and increase services.
Marty Guthmiller, CEO of OCAHS, told Siouxland Public Media on Wednesday remodeling the surgical center will cost about $2 million.
Guthmiller said the remodel will include a new procedure room, mothers’ room, and operating room. In addition, the health system will relocate their cardiac rehab services and create an inpatient physical therapy space.
He mentioned the operating room will permanently be set up for cesarean sections.
Guthmiller said the remodel will improve patient care by allowing more procedures to be performed at the health system.
He said the project will be completed in phases and is expected to finish in June 2026.
The OCAHS received a $15,000 donation from the Pella Rolscreen Foundation for the project.
According to their website, OCAHS serves 11 counties in Northwest Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
