The City of Sioux City announced Monday that short-term rental assistance is no longer available.

Short-term rental assistance helped people who are currently living in Woodbury County and facing eviction by covering up to three months of rent.

According to a press release, as of Monday all available funding has been committed to approved and pending applications. There are 18 fully approved applications and 28 that are pending. New applications for assistance will no longer be provided or accepted.

Jill Wanderscheid, manager of the Neighborhood Services Division, said, ”This was a new program funded by the Iowa Finance Authority that we hope is offered again in the future.”

In November, the Iowa Finance Authority awarded the city $104,000 to support local agencies to prevent and reduce homelessness.
