Nebraska Congressman Don Bacon has intensified his criticism of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth following recent military actions and a new report from a Pentagon watchdog.
The report said Hegseth’s use of Signal to share plans about an upcoming military strike in Yemen created a risk to operational security and could have endangered U.S. pilots.
Bacon expressed concern over the Pentagon's response and said he would like to see Hegseth brief Congress directly. He also mentioned the U.S. military’s presence near Venezuela, saying he was never briefed on the topic despite serving on the House Armed Services Committee.
He said he has not been contacted by the aircraft carrier and marines off the coast of Venezuela.
Bacon added that a hearing should be held on whether targeting the survivors of the boat strike aligns with U.S. rules of engagement.
