The Nebraska Indian Community College received a $7 million donation from the Mackenzie Scott Foundation, the largest donation in the college's history.

During the press conference, Dr. Michael Oltrogge, president of NICC said, “We do so much for our communities by preserving and revitalizing cultures and languages, expanding educational opportunities, and strengthening sovereignty, all with limited resources. This gift recognizes that reality, and more importantly, it recognizes the potential of our students.”

The funding will help NICC build long-term stability and invest in academic programs, student services, faculty development, and the continued growth of the college.

Oltrogge said the college will not be spending the $7 million directly, and they want to make sure to utilize it for future generations.

He added they plan to use half of the interest the fund earns each year and reinvest the other half so the college and its endowment can keep growing.

In November, Little Priest Tribal College received $5 million from the Mackenzie Scott Foundation. As of now the foundation has donated approximately $50 million to tribal colleges and universities in 2025.
