The Nebraska Department of Economic Development has awarded South Sioux City a $610,592 grant.

The Community Development Block Grant will be used for a new water and sewer line, as well as street paving along West 13th Street.

The notice of approval for the grant was sent out about a week after Nebraska announced the awards on November 20th.

Audrey Renteria, Grant Administrator of South Sioux City, told Siouxland Public Media on Wednesday the city hopes that construction will begin by summer 2026.

Renteria said the project is expected to be completed within a short timeframe depending on contractor availability.
