The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors approved removing Supervisor Mark Nelson as the county representative on the Law Enforcement Center Authority.

The change allows Nelson to represent the county during the upcoming LEC mediation. Nelson could not have participated in mediation while serving on the LEC Authority, as Ron Wieck was appointed as the representative for the board.

Having two or more LEC Authority members present would be considered an open meeting under Iowa law.

“I probably have the most firsthand knowledge of the dealings that went on out there,” said Nelson.

The board of supervisors appointed Supervisor David Dietrich to replace Nelson as the new county representative on the LEC Authority.
