Two Siouxland groups, Sweetgrass Uprising and Siouxland Good Troublemakers, will be joining thousands of cities across the country participating in the No Kings rally on Saturday.
Sweetgrass Uprising will lead a march from Dakota Avenue in South Sioux City to the Sioux City Public Museum.
Along the way, participants will make four prayer stops at the Veteran’s Bridge, Seoul Foods, the Mildred Anderson Pavilion, and the last stop at the Sioux City Public Museum.
At the museum the rally will continue with performances by the Mount Zion Baptist Choir ensemble, Siouxland Native American dancers, and Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Farmer’s Mike and Jack Langley.
Since early summer, the two organizations have been collecting donations to support five nonprofits in Siouxland. The proceeds from Saturday’s rally will go to the warming shelter.
Many national Republicans have been pushing back on the No Kings events, calling them unpatriotic.
