The Iowa Transportation Commission approved $3.3 million in funding for four rail infrastructure and related rail development projects under the Railroad Revolving Loan and Grant Program.

Floyd Valley Transload on Lewis Blvd, Floyd Valley Transload on Rustin Street, and BJRY Le Mars Transload are all Rail Network Improvement projects that will receive funding.

Floyd Valley Transload Lewis Blvd will receive a loan of $830,000, and Floyd Valley Transload Rustin Street will receive a loan of $256,000.

BJRY Le Mars Transload Yard Expression will receive a loan of $792,000.

According to the applications for the loan and grant program, the funds will be used in various ways.

For the Floyd Valley Transload on Lewis Blvd, the fund will reconstruct, improve, and expand an existing rail facility in Sioux City. The improvements will allow expanded community volumes and types to pass through the Floyd Valley Transload Lewis Blvd location.

The Floyd Valley Transload on Rustin Street funds will be used to increase the capacity at the Rustin Street site to an additional 8 tank cars. The location transloads liquid byproduct from a local meat processing facility.

BJRY Le Mars Transload Yard Expression funds will go to a project that expands the capacity of the current 4-acre transload site, adding additional rail car capacity to 4.9.

The projects are expected to support the creation and retention of 201 jobs within three years of project completion.
