The Sioux City Council will discuss approving a grant from the Iowa Finance Authority for the Iowa Homelessness Prevention funds in its meeting Monday.

IFA has recently offered the city of Sioux City $104,000 for homelessness prevention activities.

Individuals and families living in Sioux City who are low income and facing eviction are eligible to receive assistance. Rent assistance will be limited to a total of three months of rent.

According to the memo, the Neighborhood Services Division previously administered a Homelessness Prevention Program through Emergency Rental Assistance funding from the United States Department of Treasury. The ERA funding was related to the pandemic; it is no longer available.

The funds will support local agencies to prevent and reduce homelessness.
