There is a substantial change at the Sioux City Journal media company, as longtime editor Bruce Miller has retired.
Miller is a North Dakota native who came to Sioux City shortly after college in 1979 as a reporter. He has been an arts and entertainment writer ever since, shedding light on the movies, music, theater productions and more in Siouxland.
In a Friday statement to Siouxland Public Media News, Miller said he was blessed over 46 years to basically do it all in journalism.
“I saw big changes in the industry and got to interview eight presidents and countless celebrities during that time,” he said.
“I still believe a strong press is essential to a strong America. I encourage others to read, invest in and follow the media. It has been the right path for me.”
As reported in the Journal earlier this week,. Marc Chase, an official with Lee Enterprises, which the Sioux City Journal’s parent company, congratulated Miller on his career and noted he will continue his coverage of arts and entertainment for The Journal and other Lee Enterprises properties on a freelance basis.
Chase also announced that Dave Dreeszen of The Journal will be the Interim News Editor, succeeding Miller, who had been Editor since 2015 among his many roles, during which he won many state and regional awards.
