Summit Carbon Solutions updated the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors at its meeting Tuesday on plans for a pipeline project across Iowa.

Jeff Skaare of Summit Carbon Solutions told the supervisors that despite recent challenges in South Dakota, the company remains committed to the project, as first reported by Explore Okoboji.

During last week’s meeting, a representative of Summit Carbon Solutions met with the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors to give them an update on the project.

Kaylee Gibson, representative of Summit Carbon Solutions, told the board of supervisors that the company will comply with agricultural and environmental mitigation plans. The company is also looking for alternatives to water for cooling towers and ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle the water the cooling towers use.

Gibson also explained how payment would be distributed to the county and landowners.

Many landowners in Woodbury County expressed their concerns about the carbon pipeline project.

Informational meetings on the project have been held in multiple Iowa counties, including Woodbury and Dickinson County.
