Sioux City residents are heading to the polls to narrow the field of city council candidates from nine to six. The top six candidates will be on the November ballot.

People can vote at the Woodbury County Auditor’s Office until 5 p.m. on Monday, but on Tuesday they will have to vote at their polling location.

If voters have an absentee ballot, the auditor's office must receive the ballot by 8:00 pm on election day.

On election day, if voters have not returned their absentee ballots, they can vote a regular ballot at their polling location.

Curbside voting is available for those in need; voters will need to call the phone number posted on the sign near the courthouse entrance.

There are 16 polling locations open for this primary election; they will run from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Currently there are 59,258 registered voters in Woodbury County.

The Sioux City Council candidates are Nick Davison, Brett Watchorn, Craig Berenstein, John Den Beste, Rick Bertrand, Marty Pottebaum, Ike Rayford, Jessica Lopez-Walker, and Paul Koskovich.
