In last week’s meeting the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommended that Covid-19 vaccination decisions be made on an individual basis.
The recommendation applies to all individuals aged six months and older, following consultation with a physician or other healthcare provider. In some states, this includes a pharmacist.
Woodbury County residents can receive Covid-19 vaccines from the Siouxland District Health Department through the vaccine for children and vaccine for adults programs. These programs are available for individuals who are underinsured, uninsured, or covered by Medicaid.
However, Kevin Grieme, Director of the Siouxland District Health Department, told Siouxland Public Media that SDHD is unable to administer the covid vaccine because the VFC and VFA programs do not have vaccine supplies available.
Grieme added that receiving more covid vaccines is dependent on availability through the VFC and VFA programs.
