The Sioux City School Board is expected to approve plans and estimated costs for the district’s upgrades to the pools at West and North High and to set a public hearing in their meeting Monday.

The school district has requested plans to be drawn up for the repairs needed at the North and West High Pools.

The plans will include upgrading the mechanical systems, repairing the pool gutters, and replacing piping.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $586,490. The Siouxland Sharks will pay $245,532 for the North High repairs as part of the lease agreement.

A bid on the pool improvement project was rejected in June and was previously estimated to cost $719,000.

A public hearing will be held at 6 p.m. at the Educational Services Center on September 22.
