South Dakota Governor sends 12 national guard members to D.C.

South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden announced that 12 National Guardsmen have been sent to Washington, D.C., to help with ongoing operations.

According to a press release, the soldiers are part of the 129th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment from Rapid City. They will work in public affairs at the Joint Information Command Center.

The guardsmen are activated under Title 32 status and are under the command of the D.C. National Guard.

The deployment is expected to last 30 days and is fully funded by the federal government.
