After dropping just below $3 per gallon right below the 4th of July holiday,, the average price in Iowa has remained below $3 for the last two months.

The latest weekly summary by AAA shared by the Iowa Department of Agriculture shows the average self-serve unleaded price in the last week of August is $2.88.

Over the last eight weeks of July and August, the gas price rose twice, but declined or stayed the same in the other weeks, to fall a combined 9 cents.

Iowa is substantially lower than the current national average price of $3.21, and it is 25 cents below the Iowa price from one year ago.

Many Siouxland stations are currently selling unleaded in the range from $2.89 to $3.04, and were selling it at a lower price two days ago, before a bit of a spike that may not be reflected in the latest state average.
