INTERVIEW: Sioux City Native Ron Clements Talks About Disney, Aladdin, Memior, and More

On Saturday night, the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra takes the stage for Aladdin. The movie's director, writer, and producer is a native of Sioux City. Ron Clements worked in the art department at KCAU Television while attending Heelan High School. Five years later, he started his career with the Hanna-Barbera company before working for Disney, where he spent 45 years creating some of the most memorial movies, like The Little Mermaid and Moana. Clements shares his thoughts on his career, Aladdin, and reveals his favorite project and more in an interview with Siouxland Public Media's Sheila Brummer.

In an extended interview, Clements talks more about his Sioux City roots, memoir, the new Little Mermaid movie coming out next month, and his connection to the Orpheum Theatre. That’s when he saw the movie Pinocchio as a 9-year-old boy and was hooked.
