State health officials announced Wednesday that 747 Iowans are hospitalized with COVID-19. That’s down from 823 last week.
There have been an additional 119 deaths in the past week and more than 10 thousand new infections.
The 14-day test positivity rate has fallen to 10.8 percent from 11.3 percent last week. But experts say Iowans shouldn’t let their guards down, as the highly transmissible omicron variant continues to spread.

Individual households in Woodbury County can apply for disaster assistance for damages caused by the Dec. 15 derecho. Last week, Gov. Kim Reynolds added Woodbury County to the disaster proclamation.
Individuals and households can apply for the Individual Disaster Assistance Grant Program and the Iowa Disaster Case Management Program through the Community Action Agency of Siouxland in Sioux City.
The Individual Disaster Assistance Program offers grants to families at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. Qualifying households could receive up to $5,000 in lost property. Many items do have a maximum reimbursement amount.

A select committee of South Dakota House members will meet next week to discuss whether Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg should be impeached for striking and killing a pedestrian last year.
The nine-member committee will have access to the evidence collected by investigators when it meets on December 28 and 29.
