The Sioux City Council had its first meeting of the year on Monday with new council members Ike Rayford, Craig Berenstein, and Rick Bertrand. Siouxland Public Media talked with some of the council members about priorities they have for city council.

Council member Craig Berenstien has served on the council as mayor and a council member in the past. Mayor Bob Scott first served as mayor in the 1990s, and then after time away, he has been mayor consecutively since January 2012.

Included in the conversation is council member Rick Bertrand requesting, at the city council meeting, a weekly update from the city’s homeless task force.

When discussing their priorities, Ike Rayford, Craig Berenstein, and Bob Scott mentioned a focus on economic development.

Siouxland Public Media reached out to Mayor Pro Tem Julie Schoenherr and council member Rick Bertrand but did not hear back.
