Flight 232 Model 032717

The Sioux City Mid America Museum of Aviation and Transportationhas acquired a model of the DC-10 plane like the one that crashed at the Sioux Gateway Airport in 1989.  Siouxland Public Media’s Mary Hartnett has more.

Radio Station KSCJ reports that the Siouxland museum started searching for a model of the plane two years before the 25th anniversary of the crash of Flight 232.  Six months after the anniversary, the museum got a call from a man from Moorland, near Fort Dodge, who said he had a scale model of the plane.  There were 296 people on board the plane when the engine failed and 185 survived an emergency landing. The model now hangs above the Flight 232 exhibit at the museum in Sioux City.  For Siouxland Public Media, I’m Mary Hartnett.
