Iowa's Coronavirus Website Will Have More Timely Updates; Ban on Mask Mandate Stays

The Iowa Department of Public is updating the coronavirus.iowa.gov website so Iowans can keep up to date on vaccination rates, case positivity rates and hospitalizations.

The change will go into effect tomorrow. That was the word this morning from Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds at a news conference in Des Moines. Reynolds said more updates are needed as the Delta variant of the Coronavirus continues to increase case counts in the state. <--break->

Governor Reynolds did not back off of her mask mandate ban, saying parents should be able to make decisions on their children's mask status when they attend school.

When asked if she would encourage students to wear masks in school, Reynolds said it wouldn't matter because of the mask mandate ban. Reynolds did encourage all Iowan who are not vaccinated to get the vaccine. More details coming up on Siouxland Public Media News this afternoon at 3:04, 4:04 and 5:04.
