National Guard Delivers Pandemic Supplies to Woodbury County

Woodbury County Emergency Management

On Sunday, members of the National Guard delivered a pallet of personal protective equipment from the Iowa Department of Public Health to Woodbury County.

Emergency Management Coordinator, Rebecca Socknat says the gowns, surgical masks, gloves and even foot coverings will be distributed to medical providers and first responders like police officers and fire fighters.

And, more is needed as the pandemic continues.

“With the protocols that are in in place to protect the personnel we’re going to use all of the PPE because it is disposable.”

The fourth confirmed case in the county was confirmed over the weekend.

However, Socknat says even though that seems like a small amount, it’s important to protect others and people on the front lines.

“The thing I would say to the public.  Again, stay at home.  Practice that social distancing, the basic cover your coughs, washing your hands and stay home if you don’t have to go out, don’t go out.”

Socknat says it’s hard to predict what is going to happen with COVID-19 so it’s important to follow recommendations to prevent the spread of the disease.
