Presidential Candidates Pour into Iowa the Week Before Caucuses

012820 304

The Democratic Candidates for president are making a last-minute push across the state of Iowa less than a week before the first-in-the-nation caucuses.

A few more challengers have announced plans to visit Sioux City.  Tomorrow, former Vice President Joe Biden will hold an event at Western Iowa Tech Community College.  He will appear at the Rocklin Center at 1:15 p.m.  A previous appearance by Biden earlier this month was canceled because of bad weather.

Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar will be in town Thursday.

On Friday morning, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren will hold a rally at Western Iowa Tech and Mayor Pete Buttigieg is planning a town hall on Friday morning at the Orpheum Theater.

Republicans will get a chance to see Vice President Mike Pence on Thursday morning at the Country Celebrations Event Center.  It is part of an Evangelicals for Trump campaign stop.

The Iowa Caucuses take place Monday, February 3rd.

An environmental expert the Sierra Club says more needs to be done to try and reduce Iowa’s dependence on coal-based energy.

“We need to be proactive about securing a clean, sustainable future for our future generations.”

That’s Katie Rock, the Campaign Representative for the Sierra Club’s “Beyond Coal” campaign in Iowa.  She is working to try and get Iowa to embrace clean energy sources.

“If we want to serious about the climate we need to get to zero greenhouse emissions by 2050 and we need to make a serious course correction by 2030.”

Katie Rock will be the guest speaker at the Northwest Iowa Sierra Club’s Fourth Tuesday program this evening.
