Hard Rock Gets Approval To Prepare For Sports Betting, 4:04
State regulators today approved wagering on college and professional sports at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Sioux City and Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort in Larchwood.
Without discussion, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved projects requested by the Hard Rock and Grand Falls Casinos.
Work is set to begin Monday on the Hard Rock project that will convert 400 square feet of existing casino space into a sportsbook. Grand Falls also plans to start soon on remodeling that will free up existing space for its new sports betting area.
U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, will hold a town hall meeting in Sioux County Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at the Community Center, in Alton.
King pledged at the start of this year to hold one-hour town hall meetings in each of the 39 counties of the 4th congressional district. He has typically opened with comments on recent issues, then fielded questions from people over the latter part of the meetings.
A section of interstate in southwest Iowa that was reopened after flooding in March and then closed again in May is now back open.
